Tackling Waste Management Through Volunteering: Justin Mueller’s Journey with HELP-O

Waste management is a growing global challenge, and international volunteers play a crucial role in finding sustainable solutions. Justin Mueller, a student from the University of Paderborn, spent six weeks in Sri Lanka with HELP-O, working on waste reduction initiatives and engaging with local communities. He shared insights on German waste policies while learning about Sri Lanka’s unique challenges. Beyond waste management, Justin also contributed by crafting project proposals, teaching English and German, and fostering cultural exchange in schools. His experience highlights the power of volunteerism in addressing environmental issues and building cross-cultural understanding.
